Like a Little Child
Seeing God as Father
Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.
Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all He created.
(John 1:12-13; Romans 8:14, 16-17; Matthew 7:9-11; James 1:17-18)
God goes by many names that describe His nature and character. But you can just Him… Dad.
When God wanted to put His love into terms we could understand, He painted Himself in the biblical imagery of a Father, not the kind who rants and raves, fussing about the way you keep your room or teaching you how to drive by pounding the dashboard every time you change lanes in traffic. Not the kind who’s tied up (again) at work, or only visible from the waist down behind his morning paper, apparently unconcerned with the things that matter most to you. Neither is He a doting grandfather, mindlessly doling out dollar bills so you can buy your fill of candy and bubble gum. This Father who asks you to walk with Him will ask more of you than anyone possibly could, your life, in fact, for the privilege of being on personal terms with the God of the universe. But in return, you’ll receive a love that’s so complete and unconditional, so honest and pure, so rich in mercy and long on patience, that you’ll want nothing more than to please Him, to make Him proud of you, to find your reason for living in His gentle smile.
“God will go out of His way to make His children feel His love for them and know their privilege and security as members of His family.” – J. I. Packer
Tomorrow’s Reading: Not only do you get to enjoy a close, personal relationship with God the Father; this new adopted family of yours includes a big brother you’d love to be like.
Remember Your Roots
The Rise and Fall of Man
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’” Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. (Genesis 3:1-4)
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that itwas pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. (Genesis 3:6-8)
God created man in His own image. But it didn’t take us long to think we could cut a better deal.
Say hello to the deadwood in your spiritual family tree. They go by the names Adam and Eve. And they’ve taken you far away from your roots. Not that we’d have done any differently had we been in their bare feet, but Adam and Eve’s decline into deception cost them much more than a nice, cozy home in the garden spot of the world. It cost the entire human family everything God had created it to be. Because of their sin or the Fall, as it’s commonly called. Mankind refused his rightful, original place of perfect, guilt-free fellowship with God, and landed with a thud on a dark, remote nowhere land a million miles from home (spiritually depraved, hopelessly lost.) Ever since then, the human quest has been to rediscover his lost worth, to understand why his innate desire to be better than he is and to enjoy a relationship with a God bigger than himself, has always ended in such disappointing failure. There’s only one way back. And you’ve found it. Say hello to Jesus Christ.
“The Bible enables people to solve the dilemma facing them. They can understand both their greatness and their cruelty.” – Francis Schaeffer
Tomorrow’s Reading: Through the sacrifice of the cross, that fallen person that used to be you has now been reinstated with your heavenly Father. So why doesn’t it always fell like it?

Thanksgiving to God for His Enduring Mercy – Psalm 136
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the God of gods!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords!
For His mercy endures forever:
To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who by wisdom made the heavens,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who laid out the earth above the waters,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who made great lights,
For His mercy endures forever—
The sun to rule by day,
For His mercy endures forever;
The moon and stars to rule by night,
For His mercy endures forever.
To Him who struck Egypt in their firstborn,
For His mercy endures forever;
And brought out Israel from among them,
For His mercy endures forever;
With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who divided the Red Sea in two,
For His mercy endures forever;
And made Israel pass through the midst of it,
For His mercy endures forever;
But overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who led His people through the wilderness,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who struck down great kings,
For His mercy endures forever;
And slew famous kings,
For His mercy endures forever—
Sihon king of the Amorites,
For His mercy endures forever;
And Og king of Bashan,
For His mercy endures forever—
And gave their land as a heritage,
For His mercy endures forever;
A heritage to Israel His servant,
For His mercy endures forever.
Who remembered us in our lowly state,
For His mercy endures forever;
And rescued us from our enemies,
For His mercy endures forever;
Who gives food to all flesh,
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven!
For His mercy endures forever.

Rated PG-13 & R
The other day I was watching a movie called ‘Beyond The Blackboard’ (based on a true story), it was a great uplifting movie. It’s about a housewife/mother who wants to teach and the school she get hired with tells her she needs to teach homeless kids, so yes it’s in the homeless community. Well, during the movie, the film kept showing the teacher’s car, as she drove up each morning and yes I was waiting for her car to be stolen, which it never did. The worst thing that happened was some people stole the TV she was going to use for her class that day.
After I watched this encouraging, uplifting movie. I thought, “Wow! My mind is corrupt from the movies I watch.” And I need to get my mind back on uplifting things. “But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them” (Matthew 15:18.) “For out of the heart come evil thoughts–murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander” (Matthew 15:19.) “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4:23.) “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman” (Job 31:1.) “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2)
How do these evil thoughts get inside of us? They don’t just appear, maybe we hang around negative people, watch negative movies, listen to negative music and or play negative video games.
A few years ago, I was in a disciple training program called Master’s Commission. We weren’t allowed to watch Rated R movies, so when I was on vacation to visit my sister we went to the theater and one of the movies that looked at, looked maybe good to watch happen to be Rated R, so we when watch the other movie that was PG-13. A little surprise in the movie was a 3 second clip of nudity. Wow! Why isn’t this rated R?
I found an article, “Little difference between PG-13 and R-rated films, study says” http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865592155/Little-difference-between-PG-13-and-R-rated-films-study-says.html?pg=all
“There is essentially no difference between the most popular movies rated PG-13 for younger viewers and restricted, R-rated films in showing main characters engaged in both violence and alcohol use or violence and sexual behavior,” according to the study. But watching violent material may have an effect on the mind, according to The Los Angeles Times.
So watching PG-13, TV-14, Rated R, TV-MA and even Not Rated movies are corrupt, I don’t even know why some movies are not rated, they should all be.
To my next point, to all those K-LOVE listeners, you may remember month ago or so, K-LOVE had a 30-day Christian music challenge, to only listen to Christian music. I didn’t do this, because it’s not a challenge, since all I listen to is Christian music.
But instead of music, I have started as of yesterday to do a movie challenge. Only watching Christian movies & or PG/G rated only. Yes there are Christian movies rated PG-13 & rated R, but since their Christian based. It’s okay to watch, such as “The Passion of Christ.”
I am doing a 1 year challenge, why 1 year? I don’t watch movies everyday so if I were do the challenge for 30 days and only watch 3 or 4 movies, it’s really not going to impact me a whole lot.
If you have Netflix, to my knowledge, you have to filter what you want to watch. If you have Xbox or PSN, go into “Settings” then “Family” then “Ratings and Content.” Change the movie rating to PG & TV rating to PG. You do have free apps to watch free movies. For other apps like Amazon, Redbox, look to see if you can filter the movies.
I highly encourage you to try this out, as I watched ‘Beyond The Blackboard’, it was on Spirit Clips, it’s like a Netflix but every film is okay to watch! http://www.hallmarkspiritclips.com Spirit Clips is on the Xbox. You can try it out for 1 week for free, but the member is an amazing price. $5 per month or pay $36 for a year which is only $3 per month! You can’t beat that! $36 to help you complete this 1 year challenge. AMEN!
So who’s with me? Step up to the challenge today. “LIKE” this post “SHARE” this post. “FWD” this post.
